Lynns Mystery

Lynn posted a picture of some strange growths in a tree and wondered what they were.

This is a shot I took a few weeks ago as I travelled to Pouancé in France.

Seems they are taking over the world.
Maybe they are alien nests!
Maybe thats where Twiglets come from.
(that would explain the crappy taste).

This is lovely, but mysterious, too. What's a twiglet? Are twiglets taking over the world? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Well, at least they're lovely.

Lynn, this could be the next Watergate, treegate, twiggygate....

Just for you Petrea, twiglets are a larval stage in the life cycle of giraffes.
They lay thier eggs in trees by sticking them to the undersides of branches.
They then develop into these strange expanding growths which eventually drop to the ground as individual stick-like larvae. These have been harvested by KP, the salty snack makers, deep fried and packaged as a savory snack to serve at parties.
If left to develop in the wild, the stick larvae burrow into the ground and grow quickly upwards during the longest night of the year, (when nobody is watching) and in the morning there is an adolescent giraffe.

Giraffes are tall and therefore evil. Deep frying sounds like a good thing for them.

Full, that's fascinating! I must move to the jungle and start a restaurant immediately! Oh, I'm learning so much about the world.

I'm off to Belgium next week for some test work on the fascinating subject of waterborne paint systems.

Should spend some time in Antwerp and with luck could get to Bruges. I've not been there but I hear it is very nice. Big cathedral, churches, grand buildings and canals.
I'll bring you all some chocolate.

They will be waiting for you when you turn up for coffee.

I could always drop them in when I'm visiting friends in Weston Village!!

Be afraid......
